Injection Moulding Specialists UK
The process of injection moulding involves heating of plastic raw material, which is then forced under pressure into a mould to form a component of the required shape.
The process is general fully automated, utilising specially designed injection moulding machines and associated moulds. Machine and mould are optimised to produce the maximum number of components for the size of machine.
Plastic materials are selected according to the requirements of the finished component, typical factors are strength, flexibility, clarity and chemical resistance.
Additives are added to the raw material prior to heating typically for colour, and more specialised additives such as glass fibre can be added to increase strength and rigidity
